Grano Law Offices, P.C. Will Stand by Your Side Every Step of the Way

As a state criminal defense attorney for  Santa Fe, New Mexico, Marc will handle your case from start to finish while protecting your rights and asserting your interests throughout the entire process. Grano Law Offices, P.C. knows how to fight in your best interests at every critical point effectively.

No matter where your case stands, I can help.  Regardless of where your case is in the legal process, we can help.  I can hit the ground running if you decide to hire our team to fight for you or your loved one.  Or maybe you haven’t even been charged, but investigators are poking around, asking questions or you have received a target letter.

Protect yourself by hiring a New Mexico state criminal defense attorney to represent your interests at the following hearings:

  • Bail hearing: As your lawyer, I will work to get you out of jail as soon as possible by arguing for lower bail or arranging for reasonable conditions of release. The sooner you are out of jail, the better, if possible.
  • Arraignment: The arraignment is the hearing  where you enter your plea, which is typically not guilty, guilty, or no contest. You will receive my guidance and counsel during your arraignment.
  • Felony First Appearance: (Felony charges  filed in Magistrate Court only.)  An individual being charged in magistrate court with a felony will appear for a felony First Appearance where no plea will be entered, and conditions of release imposed when the  client is successfully released from custody.
  • Preliminary Hearing: (Felony cases only) An individual charged with felony crime(s) in magistrate court will have a probable cause hearing. This hearing is especially important and is the state’s opportunity to present evidence and testimony to prove that felony crime(s) have been committed and that the defendant committed the felony crime(s).  The State has the burden of proof and must prove their case to a level of probable cause.  It is an excellent opportunity for the defense to cross examine every state witness presented and “test and challenge” the charges against him or her.
  • Pretrial phase: The pretrial phase is the time where we exchange evidence, file motions, and argue with prosecutors before your trial ever takes place. This is an opportunity to obtain all material discovery, conduct a thorough defense investigation, interview witnesses, file suppression motions, file other necessary motions as determined by each individual case.   I will always move for a dismissal, acquittal, or plea deal, no matter what.
  • Judge or jury trial: If your case makes it to trial, then I will prepare your case to hit back at the prosecutor’s theory against you.
  • Sentencing: During the sentencing phase, if your case even gets that far, I will argue for the lowest possible sentence, fine, or penalty for your situation. You can be sure that I will have a strategy in place that works to enhance your results.

At every point in your case, I will be by your side to respond to handle the prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement personnel assigned. You will never be left wondering where your case stands or what is going to happen to you.
